Vanilla Acai and Cacao Protein Banana "Nice" Cream
Here are another two variations of my banana ice cream! Since this was my (very late) lunch, I needed more sustenance then just a few bananas, so I added protein powder!! Acai and chocolate went together beautifully. I topped it with fresh berries for an extra antioxidant boost, as well as a little toasted coconut flakes for a some healthy fats and a nice little crunch!
Serves 1
For the Acai ice cream, you will need:
- 2 medium, sliced and frozen bananas
- 2 tbsp soy milk
- 1 tsp Acai powder
- 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (about 15g)
For the Cacao ice cream, you will need:
- 2 medium, sliced and frozen bananas
- 2 tbsp soy milk
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (about 15g)
Directions:
At least 5 hours prior to making the ice cream, peel and chop your banana into small 1/2 inch pieces and place the slices (in a single layer) into a large zip lock bag. Put this in your freezer until you're ready to make the ice cream.
Starting with your Acai ice cream, remove the 2 bananas and from the freezer place the bananas and milk in your food processor and process. You will have to scrape down the sides a few times to get everything incorporated. Be patient with this, as it takes a while for the bananas to smooth out and become more of an ice cream consistency. You may need to add more milk to smooth it out, just use your judgement. Add in the acai powder and protein powder once the ice cream is smooth, and process until everything is evenly incorporated. Scoop into a bowl and place in your freezer while you make your cacao ice cream.
To make your Cacao ice cream, place the other 2 bananas in your food processor and add the milk, then process until smooth. Add the cacao powder and protein powder, and process until incorporated.
Remove the Acai ice cream from the freezer and add the Cacao ice cream to the bowl. Top with whatever you want and dig in!
Enjoy! :)
